Environment Progress Report

Discussion took place on what would be nice to have and to achieve in the village, long term objectives and from these some easy short term objectives that could be successfully executed:
Nice to have
1. Community woodland
2. 20mph speed limit throughout the whole village
(link with Getting About objectives)
3. A new tree and hedge planting programme
4. To refocus the village centre
Long term objectives (5-10 years)
1. To retain the rural character of the village, minimising suburban effect
2. To control and influence new development in the village
3. To maintain Culworth as a vibrant ‘living’ and ‘working’ community
4. To protect and enhance the existing environment
Easier short term objectives
Tree audit
Ongoing – need to compile all the information to date, identify areas not yet audited. Add to village environment map. Liaise with Parish Tree Warden.
New Village Design Statement
In progress – Draft presented to Parish Council Summer 2005 for comments.
Final to be completed by Summer 2006 to present to Parish Council for approval and adoption by SNC as supplementary planning guidelines.
Recycling programme
Success - Twin Bins arrived in Culworth April 2005.
